Aside from the obvious amazingnessocity of the characters, their likeness to real life, Fred's rose dropping and Spike's perfectly in-character cigarette tossing... I have to say I LOVE your use of colour. In pretty much all your Angel cover's but especially this one. They're all so bright and strong, but never feel unrealistic. That's very hard to pull off. You should definitely talk to IDW about doing high quality prints or posters of your covers. Maybe a limited printing? Who knows, but there would definitely be a market for it. (or you could just send me a high res copy of it and i could print it off myself joking...sorta)
Also, you and Jo Chen should think about getting together and having some sort of art-off competition. Or, possibly, breeding.
Thanks! Color is really a struggle for me. I actually prefer more subtle, earthier tones than what I use, but I can't seem to pull it off like so many great digital painters out there. So, I tend to tinker with a piece's palette until I can get it to work, which usually results in brighter colors. Color theory is an ongoing education for me.
I would bet IDW wants to finish the current Angel story arc before doing anything. Also, I've only done a handful of Angel covers so far, so maybe later on we can get a poster book or something going when there's sufficient quantity. We'll see!
Jo Chen would kick my ass. She's a mega-talent. Plus, I think she already has a boyfriend...
