This is a rarely seen promo for a Batman Gen13 Crossover that never happened. Probably for the best. While I was very excited to work on Batman, I remember feeling at the time that the story and tone couldn't possibly work with these characters. I think DC ultimately put the kibosh on it.
Stuff like this just makes me think they tried to make Gen-13 the Scooby Doo and the gang of comics. Always teaming up with celebrities or superheroes and solving the mystery before heading off to the pizza parlor for a groovy time. Darn meddling kids...
even for a gen13 fan like myself, especially with jeff's pencils... it still sounds like an unbelievably cheesy cross-over... alas, i still would have checked it out. lol... anyway, i can't get over the fact that batman would constantly be saying something like "stupid fucking teenagers..." XD
I remember complimenting Jeff about the fabric crease on Batman's fist. He just looked at me sort of strange and said thanks. As if to say, "really, that's what you like about this piece?". It sort of opened my eyes in a sense. Like "hey, you don't have to make every stitch of clothing on a super hero look like painted skin."
Wanna know a secret about this piece? Jim Lee rendered a lot of the pencil shading on Batman. Can't remember why, but if you look at him you can kind of see it. I do think Jeff did the crease though.
