I borrowed this image from Mike's close friend Frank Mastromauro as he's the one who possesses the original art.
This is the only time I've ever inked Mike and I remember having a blast doing it. Mike was always good at giving an energetically sketchy and yet finished look to his pencils, which was great for inkers because it gives us just enough room to stretch and experiment. I'm pretty sure he got that sketchbook-style tendency from his early days working under Marc Silvestri, who at least for me, was easily one of the most fun pencillers to ink over.
Anyway, Mike has been a constant in my thoughts these days and it just felt right to post something we both created. Considering what good friends we were, it really surprises me that we didn't do more projects together. Looking back, I'd definitely say that Mike and I had an unspoken rule between us to keep our work and friendship separate, which was probably for the best since we were so competitive back in the day. I just wish I had the chance to work with him one more time.
ah! I know you posted this a while ago, but I just found it; the joys of deviantart finds! Anyway, I thought your name sounded familiar, you inked Gen13 with Campbell right?
wow dude! I remember I would collect Image collector cards and see some of your art, I thought it was cool and wondered what happened to you (Gen13 was years ago). You really turned into a great illustrator!
