no, she's a Night Elf turned naga. She never went the the Highbourne to Silvermoon or ever became a High Elf. Back in her Elf days, the Highbourne (later to become High Elves) were merely the upper class of Night Elf society.
Seriously, I adore this image.. Because........ there are too few images of Queen Azshara but come to think of it, she's sorta important.. Because of her, the Burning Legion first came to Azeroth, etc.. And she is always described as elegant and beautiful but I haven't seen such image of hers.. But THIS is definitely like how I imagined her..
I hope you are doing more of these cos it'd be hella awesome.. I would especially like to see you draw/paint Alexstrasza in her elven form..
While the model in the game is pinched rather severely (I'm a tiny girl with a love for corsetry, and the model makes me wince!), I would have hoped for a slightly more realistic proportion demonstrated in art. Or, at least, show the laces and boning that she endures!
It still doesn't explain the leg-hips-waist disconnection, though. The leg just doesn't align with the hips, and it really takes away my enjoyment of an otherwise very beautiful picture.
To be fair, unrealistic proportions are part of Blizz aesthetic (ie: any human male in art, blood elven females, night elven females way of standing, etc). And look at what she's wearing, she's probably using magic to keep all that in place XD
I think its a mix of the suposed belt-pressing and the lighting that makes you see it weird
I agree, her proportions are such that one would think she should be looking up at you instead of down. Her shoulders are very broad, waist is minuscule and her hips are narrow. I appreciate the movement of the lines and the amazing colors but the anatomy is bogging down my enjoyment of the overall picture.
